Today is the funeral.
Right now it is 15 degrees. The weather site says the windchill makes it -3.
I think it is a day that reflects the grey feelings in all of us.
The visitation last night went better than I thought it would. We were all there, all of us kids. Even baby boy. He is the newest grandson, and he is a character already at age 10 months. I am glad mil got to meet him this side of heaven.
I expected it to be a sad somber affair. However good friends came, none of them I knew. Friends from fil and mil's church and one or 2 from fils old days. It was a small world, since he did not grow up in San Angelo, they all just happened to settle here.
One of them is a lady, a young lady at age 81 that I would love to spend an afternoon with.
There were tears of course but mostly we shared memories of the good times. My oldest was there, my youngest was ill. He is hoping to make the funeral today though.
The high today is said to be 29, with snow likely.
Well we are all descending on fil, who btw is the only dad I have ever known, for brunch at 10, all us girls are cooking.
Friends I want to thank you for the well wishes and condolences, and most especially the prayers. They do help.
I've been praying for you and your family continually, Mel. You all remain in my heart and thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI remember Dad's services. He had so many good friends, many from his high school days even after all those years. It's truly heartwarming. I'm delighted you are able to witness and celebrate the good times in your mother-in-law's life, and know there is continued support for your father-in-law.
Please do remember to take care of yourself amidst all that you're doing for others. They need you ~ we need you!
Sending warm hugs on this cold wintry day, Dear One.
Hugs and kisses, Mel :) You will remain in my thoughts and prayers as you begin the journey without her.
ReplyDeleteXOXO
