Wednesday

My friend Cat it sick. She has some sort of sinusy stuff. I understand, I get sinusy stuff all year myself.
On Wednesdays Cat usually does a whatcha workin on post. However this Week she has called off sick. She must feel really icky to call off si
ck on her blog.

Just so you know her blog is awesome. Cat is a real homesteader. She raises much of her food, including meat chickens. She is very handy, and does awesome crafts. I learn alot from her lbog. Next grocery day I plan to get the ingredients for her sandwich bread. Though I will not be grinding my own wheat for it.
She is also a master couponer. Folks have written me they are amazed at what i get... Cat could open a store with her finds!

Anyway I did a few things yesterday to post about today, so I figured even though she will not be joining me, I will post them anyway. This is what I worked on this week.

We had one of those vertical blinds covering
our picture window. I did not like it, it did not work, got if off freecycle so there was no real investment in it. I am a must be able to open the curtains and look out person. Really. I am. I REFUSE to live in a cave, well ok I will on the 105 degree days but other than that I must be able to look OUT!

Well I had been mulling it over for a long time. I had these fancy
shower curtains I was given. I was told they are battenburg lace. They are gorgeous to me. They were much too big for my shower. However my mind began to hum... what if I flipped over the edge where the shower curtain hanger thingies go and made a slot for a rod... So I did. I had Chris take down the nasty blind and put up rods. I sewed, Judy ironed. Ironing is something I love the doing of, but I am rotten at it. Ii iron in more wrinkles than I iron out. So with a group effort we got it done in just an hour!

Here is the result. (I fo
rgot to take a before...)
It is still dark out, and cloudy so you can not see light coming in, but it did yesterday!

Then I decided Baby (my new brother 5000 sewing machine) Deserved a treat. So I made her a cover out of an old table cloth. I had been trying for years to decide what to do with it. The embroidery on it was so pretty, but the cloth was wearing out and could not work as a table cloth. So I sewed up the sides and Baby had a new cover. It matches my red white and blue house theme, and my old world tastes.
The news paper under will hopefully today become a new pattern. The material next to it is my newly washed and organized stash, at least part of it.
You can see the pocket door that divides the living/dining rooms from the back of the house.

Well now to find breakfast and make a lunch. I have my kitchen towels washing now, I got out the roast for tomorrow and the chicken for tonight's chicken casserole.
After work I need to do my mile. The plan is to do it for 2 weeks on Monday, Wednesday and Friday then add in my callanetics on Tuesday and Thursday. I have felt so energized the last 2 days and feel so again today. I was sore yesterday but had an aleve in my purse, and that helped immensely! I have advil still if needed today.

Have an awesome day!

  2. Doesn't it feel great when you can re-purpose something ~ especially when it does a better job at its new function!
