It is a bit cloudy today but it is a glorious day!
I feel mighty spry today! LOL My hands are a tad achy from pecan shelling yesterday. My brother in love sent us a box of pecans off his tree, partially shelled. The shells on most are well cracked and you basically just peel them off in bits and pieces. I spent about 30 minutes doing that yesterday and got 1/2 lb give or take of usable pecan pieces. The box is still 3/4 full! I estimate at least 2 lbs of pecans when I am finished. This is one of those tasks I will do in slack time... wow I never had slack time before...
Today I am going to be moving around lamps. I have an abundance of lamps it seems. Well ok I have 2 that I do not really use but more than is needed is abundance is it not??? Anyway I plan to move them around and see if I can get better lighting in the living room, or if perhaps Drew is taking some lamps with him when he moves in 3 weeks...
I am also moving things around in the kitchen. I need to move the deep fryer. We probably should get rid of it as we never really use it. Well yes when I make coconut shrimp once in a blue moon or donuts about as often, or okra we do. However I bet all those could be done in a pan on the stove with less muss and fuss... We shall try next time...
I dusted and moved around nativity sets yesterday so I could place the memorial plants Beloved got on the mantle. They are lovely and I plan to keep them alive if there is any way to do it! I have to figure out what they are and what kind of sun they need, and water and such. One is some kind of an ivy the other has flowers that look like tiny mums but the leaves are not mum leaves.
I am thinking this weekend of going and getting onion starts, potato starts and peas. These will go in the old bed from last year. I will move the iris from the front beds and plant tomatoes and peppers there, and put up boxes for strawberries and find a place for an herb bed... I also want to plant peanuts and corn... I hope for watermelon and cantaloupe too...Some day I will also have chickens...
I wonder why folks pamper their chickens now days. I mean chickens seemed to do fine before heat lamps and so on in the old days... I want to do my chicken the way they did back them, so I guess I will need tough ones.
Well the washer has stopped and moving things is calling my name so check back tomorrow for another thrilling day of mel says...
